Yes, it’s been a few months since Geist Plastics sent a newsletter, but we’ve been busy behind-the-scenes implementing a series of major improvements. We’re excited to now bring you up to date on our capabilities. See below:
13” wide/diameter profiles
Until recently, Geist Plastics was limited to manufacturing profiles only 7” in diameter. In recent months we invested $500,000+ in new tooling and new downstream equipment, enabling us to make round or profile extrusions that are 13” wide or 13” in diameter. This greatly expands our capabilities.
More intricate profiles with higher tolerances
We purchased and renovated a new “profile table” sizing system. This allows us to produce more intricate profiles with higher tolerances. It also lowers tooling costs. This new capability has boosted efficiency and given us the ability to run smaller and slower running products.
New innovative base tool
We purchased a new Flow-Tech base tool, which allows us to reduce tooling costs. We welcome the opportunity to compete for smaller projects now that we are more competitive in this area. This new base tool can work with the Profile Table mentioned above or used independently – another way in which our capabilities have expanded.
Ongoing assistance from industry experts. A few years ago we began working with an industry consultancy with decades of experience in profile extrusion. With their guidance we have significantly improved our understanding of the extrusion and troubleshooting processes. This relationship benefits both current and future customers.
New quality control equipment
We invested in inline QC equipment for two of our three extrusion lines. This enables us to precisely run “round” profiles. In addition, this equipment reduces setup and processing time, as well as reduces start up scrap. The impact of this new equipment is significant.
New quality control equipment for center pivot products
Geist Plastics has a long history of partnering with center pivot irrigation customers. Our investment in new QC equipment for this market enables us to empirically stress test several aspects of these products. This investment initially benefits our agriculture customers but will also be used for new projects as appropriate.
We will continue to periodically share information, ideas and customer success stories with you. If you have questions about our process capabilities, materials, or secondary operations, please email us, or call us at 877-828-5448. We welcome the opportunity to work with you.
